Character Illustration
Throughout my life, much of the focus in my personal work has been around giving life to my work using character design, composition, lighting, and color theory. I strive to represent a wide variety of characters, settings, and themes in my work. I am especially passionate about showing characters from a variety of ethnic and cultural backgrounds, of varying body types, and from all areas of the LGBTQ+ spectrum. Featuring such diverse characters in my work allows me to delve deeper into these cultures and identities in order to represent them in a respectful manner.
With diversity and storytelling as such core goals, I often change my artistic style to match whatever subject matter I am representing in an illustration. From more realistically proportions to styles influenced by Japanese anime and Western cartoons, I have used a variety of styles to best represent the mood and theme of the piece. This has allowed me to study and explore a wide range of techniques in color, composition, shading, and line work - something I intend to continue throughout my life.
